Definition of the Language of the Spirit
Glossary

Language of the Spirit

According to Pope St. John Paul II, our body speaks two languages: the language of the spirit and the language of the body. Furthermore, the language of the body has two components: sense-able and meta-sense-able. The language of the spirit consists of words of love, giving, and fidelity [John Paul II, “The Language of the Body in the Structure of Marriage,” n. 7] expressed through the mouth of man — his body.
